We have just finished a great project in Svendborg. The country’s new maritime educational institution Simac has received modern and durable design floors from Areo Undergulve.
In addition to building a 95-98 mm robust sub-floor with step sound dampening, we have laid out 6,555 m2 of design floors in a greyish shade. The beautiful design floor – also known as New York’s floor – is made of a gypsum-based thin plaster. This possibly minimizes shrinkage grooves significantly compared to cement-based thin plaster. Finally, the surface is sealed with a 3-4 layer topcoat.
Despite many rooms and different sizes on all floors, our installers made sure to deliver beautiful and uniform design floors on all areas.

Design floors are a modern and durable solution that offers a seamless New Yorker style, without the need for traditional flooring. These floors are characterized by their gypsum-based thin plaster, which is finished with a transparent topcoat to ensure durability and protection.
Design floors open up a wide spectrum of unique design possibilities, but it is important to have certain prerequisites in place to achieve an optimal result. Before deciding on a design floor, it is important to carefully consider the specific requirements that the room places on the floor. Design floors are particularly suitable for places of use such as retail chains, restaurants, cafes, institutions, commercial properties and common areas in residential buildings.
