At the most recent employee meeting, Areos’s technicians received an overview of their pension plans. The idea to do this came from the technicians themselves.
It was floor installer Jørgen Høgsted who got the whole thing started. One day, he took a closer look at his retirement plan and discovered that his savings were spread across three different pension companies. This raised a number of questions:
Was he making the most of his money? What exactly did his health insurance cover? Could he get help quickly if he suddenly couldn’t get out of bed one morning? And who would inherit his estate if the worst-case scenario happened?
“I have many younger colleagues who have never really thought about it. That’s why I suggested to management that everyone should have their pension plan reviewed by an advisor,” he says.
A good idea
At the most recent staff meeting, Areo therefore welcomed a pension advisor from PensionDanmark. First, he went over the options available under the pension plan. Afterward, all the technicians were offered a one-on-one consultation about their own plans.
“Thirteen percent of the technicians’ wages go toward their pensions. That’s why it’s important for employees to know what the plan covers and how they can get the most out of it,” says CFO Åse Nørmark Andersen.
Caring for employees also means listening
It wasn’t management who came up with the idea. It came from a technician who asked a question. Since the suggestion made sense, it was put into practice—and benefited all of his colleagues.
That’s the kind of employee care we believe in at Areo: listening to one another, sharing knowledge, and ensuring that employees get the most out of the benefits they already have.
